What is the piece?: This is a pendant with a "working" drawbridge. What was your inspiration?: I love castles, and thought this would be a bit of a challenge. There are so many myths that are based around castles, this seemed to be a good fir for the theme. I wanted to do something that was more intricate, and this gave me the opportunity.
Stonehenge Necklace
Amy
Certificate of Merit
What is the piece?: Necklace What was your inspiration?: This piece was inspired by one of the most famous sections of Stonehenge, including stone #3, which despite being quite worn, takes on a character all it's own. Carvings of axe-heads can be found all over the stones, which is what inspired me to add one to the chain extender charm. In some European folklore upturned axe=heads were thought to offer protection.
I crafted this piece to be donated to an auction which helped the Archaeological Institute of America.
Watching My Heart
Linda
Certificate of Merit
What is the piece?: Pendant/Brooch What was your inspiration?: Each time life has presented me with physical challenges, I’ve made a piece of jewelry as a mandala to help me focus on healing. On June 30, 2020 I was scheduled for knee replacement surgery, so, before that date, I made “Watching My Heart”, a brooch/pendant, so that I would have it to wear during my rehab. As it turned out, there were complications. . . Life never is uncomplicated. . . and “Watching My Heart” came to represent the possibilities of healing, both for my knee, and other assorted parts, and Healing for our world. Major energy coming off this jewel!
Egyptian Revival

What is the piece?: A winged scarab pendant with a cartouche dangle What was your inspiration?: I have always loved everything Egyptian. Such a rich culture, with unique and intriguing art and customs. Myth is a favorite subject as well. I must add that the Lapis Cabochon was the main inspiration for this piece.
Woodland Fairy Door
Emma
Certificate of Merit
What is the piece?: A little fairy door necklace with working knocker. What was your inspiration?: This is the tiny door to a magical and mythical land. Beyond this leafy door lies a magical fairy relm where the woodland fairy's live.
The little door was made with silver clay. The frame is a cast of a little birch twig and the little door knocker actually moves and knocks the door with a delightful tinkling sound.
The ivy leaves, twine and little toadstool that adorn the door have all been sculpted free hand.
Magic Galaxy Ring
Laura
Certificate of Merit
What is the piece?: A ring What was your inspiration?: I have always been drawn to stars which to me have an inherent magical quality and are often used in the depiction of magic. This dichroic glass cabochon reminded me of space, which set me thinking about a magical ring that could contain a galaxy within an enchanted stone.
Sweet Sounds of the Pan Pipes
Marianne
Certificate of Merit
What is the piece?: Pendant What was your inspiration?: My inspiration was the mythical creature, the satyr, which is known for playing the pan pipes. I envisioned the pipes being covered in vines, leaves and flowers with toadstools and grass around the bottom as if it was part of the forest, and hung on a simple knotted cord. I wanted to add some colour to bring out some of the elements.
